Warm greetings as we welcome you to our church. St. Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church is part of Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch.
The church was established by immigrants from the state of Kerala, in India. The congregation was started by Very Rev. Fr. Bobby Joseph as a home church in June, 1986 and later on moved to a rental facility. In April 2005, St. Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church was able to buy a property of its own, in Stone Mountain, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Church operations and Sunday services are being offered from the new facility in Stone Mountain from September of 2005.
The Church conducts worship services according to the rich and ancient liturgical traditions of the Syriac Orthodox Church. Much of the liturgical works of the Church were originally written in Syriac, the Edessene dialect of Aramaic, which our Lord Jesus Christ and his disciples spoke. During the last century these works have been translated into other languages. The liturgical services in the church are held in Malayalam (the vernacular of the congregation members) and in English.
The new church facility is conveniently accessible from I-85. We invite you to visit our church and join us in worship services according to the ancient traditions of the Syriac Orthodox Church.
